- Find the center of the cloth: Find the center of the cloth marked by the Popps label.
- Place the cloth around your chest: Place the center of the cloth flat on your chest so that the Popps label is in the center of your chest.
- Cross the ends over your back and pull them forward over your shoulders: Bring the ends of the scarf back, cross them on your back to form an "X", and then pull the ends forward over your shoulders. Make sure that the strips of the scarf are not twisted.
- Pull the cloth strands through the chest panel: Gather the chest panel a little and pull the ends of the cloth through the middle chest panel.
- Cross the strands of the cloth at breastbone height: Cross the strands of the cloth at about the height of your breastbone. Depending on the size of your child, you can also cross them a little lower.
- Lead the cloth strands to the back and tie a knot: Lead the ends of the cloth back and to the front again. Tie them there with a double knot, or on the side. If the ends are too short, you can tie them at the back.
Attention: Please do not tie a bow, it could open unnoticed. - Receiving your baby: Place your baby safely over the opposite shoulder of the lower cloth and support him in a C-grip. Carefully receive the first foot (make sure not to pull on the foot) until the cloth is in the middle of the back of the knee. Now position your baby on the other side of your shoulder and hold him in a diagonal support grip so that he sits well and securely. Now receive the other foot with the other cloth until the cloth is in the middle of the back of the baby's knee. Carefully align your baby back in the middle of your chest. First carefully pull the lower cloth over your child's bottom and back to his neck, then the other cloth. Finally, pull the chest panel up to the ears so that the neck is well supported. Make sure that the feet remain free and that there is no accidental pulling on the feet. Your baby now assumes the squat position.
Make sure your baby's airways are clear.

Safety instructions (WARNING):
- Note the weight range: Your Popps sling is suitable for babies and toddlers weighing between 2.3 and 15 kilograms. Please only use the sling within this weight range.
- Safe spread-squat position: Make sure your baby is always in the spread-squat position. This means your baby's knees should be higher than their bottom and the fabric should run from the back of the knee to the back of the knee to promote healthy hip development (M-position).
- Clear airway: Make sure your baby's face is always visible and the airway remains clear. Your baby's head should not be covered by the cloth or your clothing to ensure free breathing. Gently turn your baby's head to the side if necessary.
- Head support for newborns and babies: Make sure that the neck is well supported by the sling. If necessary, support your child's neck with a head support (e.g. pop bag or burp cloth).
- Secure fit: The sling must be tied tightly enough so that your baby sits securely and close to your body, but not so tight that it becomes uncomfortable. You should be able to comfortably reach your baby with a kiss on the head at any time.
- Regular inspection: Check regularly that the sling is tied tightly and that your baby is safe and well supported. Look for signs of wear or damage to the sling.
- Be careful with heat sources and hot drinks: Be aware that hazards in the home environment, such as hot drinks or heat sources, can pose a risk to your baby. For example, do not cook while using your sling or drink hot drinks to prevent accidents.
- Pay attention to your baby's movement: the more active your baby becomes, the greater the risk that he or she could slip out of the sling. Make sure he or she is correctly positioned in the sling to avoid the risk of falling.
- Maintain balance: Your movement and that of your baby can affect your balance. Be especially careful when leaning or bending forward or to the side.
- Avoid sporting activities: The sling is not suitable for sporting activities such as jogging, cycling, swimming or skiing.
- Avoid overheating: Make sure your baby does not overheat. Your baby's body temperature can rise if he or she is wearing too much clothing or is in an environment that is too warm.
- Storing the sling: When you are not using the sling, keep it out of the reach of children.
- Care instructions: Follow the care instructions on the sling label for washing, cleaning and drying.
- Regular inspection: Inspect the sling regularly for wear or damage before using it.

Frequently Asked Questions
When can I carry my baby?
You can carry your baby from the first day of life, but remember to take it easy during the postpartum period.
What do I have to pay attention to when wearing it?
When carrying your child, always make sure that the airways are clear and that your baby is sitting in an upright position. The back should be well supported and slightly rounded. The so-called squat position is also important, where the legs are squatted and sufficient support is guaranteed from the back of the knee to the back of the knee.
How long can I carry my baby?
Babies and children often fall asleep relaxed when being carried and can therefore spend many hours of the day in the sling or baby carrier. As long as it is comfortable for you and your child, there is no time limit. Please take your child out of the carrier for changing and feeding.
Important: You should not carry your child while driving a car or riding a bicycle.
Up to what weight can I carry my child in a sling?
In principle, you can carry your baby for as long as it is comfortable for you and your baby. The Popps sling is suitable for babies weighing 2.3 to 15 kg - ideal for the first few months and beyond!
Can I sit down with my child while carrying him?
Yes, of course, that's not a problem at all as long as you find a comfortable position for both of you. Some children wake up when you sit down, but this varies from child to child. However, it is important that you never lie down with your child in the sling or carrier. To ensure that your baby sleeps safely, you should take him or her out of the sling before laying him or her down.
It is important that you keep an eye on your baby's secure hold and clear airways at all times.
Can I provide additional support for my baby's head in the sling?
Yes, that is easily possible. For example, you can fold the top edge of the sling over so that your baby's head has more support. Alternatively, you can also use our Popps bag as a support or use a burp cloth as additional support to support your child's head even better.
Is carrying my baby uncomfortable or harmful?
No, quite the opposite. Many babies really enjoy being carried. It reminds them of the time in the womb - the physical contact, the closeness, the upright position and hearing your heartbeat calm your baby and give him a feeling of security. The spread-squat position in which they are carried is not only comfortable, but also promotes healthy hip development. For most babies, being carried is not only comfortable, but also beneficial for their physical and emotional development.
How many slings do I need?
Usually one sling is enough. However, it can be useful to have a second one in reserve in case the first one ends up in the wash, for example because it has been spit up or a diaper has leaked. This way you always have a spare sling available in case the other one cannot be used at the moment.
Why shouldn't my baby wear tights or a romper in a sling?
Tights and rompers with feet can cause your baby's feet to be constricted or pulled up in the sling. This can be uncomfortable and, in the worst case, can lead to misalignment if the fabric is pulled up by pulling on the back of the knee. It is therefore advisable to use leggings, pants or rompers without feet. Some parents also simply cut the feet off the tights to avoid this problem.
If you still want to use tights or rompers, you should choose a size larger to ensure there is enough room for the feet. It is also important to check regularly that there is no strain on the sensitive feet.
What is the best way to tie an elastic sling?
The pre-tied wrap cross carry is one of the best ways to tie our stretch wraps. This technique is often preferred as the elastic material can be tied tightly, ensuring a stable fit and providing a secure hold for your baby.
If you feel like your child is slipping down or you are getting back pain, check the binding and adjust it again if necessary.
What material is your scarf made of?
Material:
- 96% bamboo viscose
- 4% elastane
Benefits of bamboo:
- Particularly breathable
- Good air and heat circulation
- Flexible and adapts perfectly to the baby's ergonomics
How long is the Popps sling?
- Dimensions: 504 cm x 55 cm
- Weight: approx. 500 g
Can I carry my baby in a sling after a cesarean section?
Yes, absolutely! In fact, babywearing in a sling is one of the best options after a c-section because you don't have a waist belt that can put pressure on your c-section scar. This prevents friction or irritation. The sling is a gentle and comfortable way to carry your baby without putting any strain on the c-section scar.
Can premature babies be carried?
Premature babies can often be carried very early, sometimes even during their hospital stay. It is important that you consult your doctor about this. In these special situations, a bonding top can also be ideal to encourage important physical contact. A babywearing consultation will also help you find the right babywearing product so that your premature baby can be carried safely and securely.
Should I wash it before first use?
Yes, it is recommended that you wash the sling once before using it for the first time. In principle, you can wash the sling in the washing machine at 40 degrees. However, it should not be put in the dryer as this could damage the material. It is best to let it air dry to maintain the quality of the fabric.
